Always like watching Jones fight, not many guys can go undefeated their whole career, hopefully Reyes can gives him a good go which I think he can. The card itself tho isnt that great.

Want Jones to loses because LHW is boring. Get his ass to the HW division already. But I don't see how he loses this fight at all.

Yeah I've always been a fan of Jones the fighter.....Jones the human is a P.O.S though.jax wrote:Always like watching Jones fight, not many guys can go undefeated their whole career, hopefully Reyes can gives him a good go which I think he can. The card itself tho isnt that great.
Jones SHOULD dismantle him but............after watching Santos perform so well on 1 leg I am slightly optimistic that this could be an entertaining fight in terms of being competitive....although I don't think Reyes has that "Power" weapon like Santos did to kinda keep Jones a little more timid

Rumors have Jones going up to HW after this fight. That will make LHW a much more interesting division.Hired_Merc wrote:Want Jones to loses because LHW is boring. Get his ass to the HW division already. But I don't see how he loses this fight at all.
Who do we think gets the Title shots if the belt gets vacated?
Just of the top of my head I would suggest Anderson/Santos

Rogan and Cruz were both saying in the 3rd round of that fight 1 judge wasn't even watching the fight, head down for a long period of time missing the action.....how does this even happen

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
There's no way Jones won that round. He lost the first 3 rounds pretty damn clearly imo. I don't even believe the first 3 rounds were close. Reyes was robbed. 49-46 is absolute bullshit.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
I have only watched the Shevchenko fight of the main card fights so far, but what a dominating performance by Bullet. Valentina looked amazing in every aspect. Kudos to Cookagian's cut man because that was a nasty cut but never came into play and seemingly bled very little. Like Rogan and Cruz said afterwards, who the hell is next....there just doesn't seem to be anyone at the top that would, on paper anyways, give Valentina a challenge.
Side note, I thought Cruz, who is normally just decent in his commentary, was very good last night

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
49-46 Is BS for sure, Reyes won first 2 ,3rd was close and Jones 4,5. Was really disappointed Reyes totally gave the 5th round away, He was clearly tired but in the final round he didnt leave it all out there and hardly threw any meaningful strikes...If he had won that round the belt would have been his. He should have done what Derrick Lewis did in his final round and just go nuts with a flurry which won him that fight.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Yeah sorry guys, I just don't see a robbery here at all. I had it 48-47 Jones but can see an argument for 48-47 Reyes.
For me, the second round was the deciding round. I gave rounds 1 and 3 to Reyes, 4 and 5 to Jones and that 2nd round was very close but ultimately I gave Jones that 2nd round, giving Jones the narrow victory

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
I thought the deciding round was 3, Reyes had bigger significant strike numbers in round 2 compared to 3 I believe....close fight either way, like I said I was disappointed with Reyes throwing away round 5 just thinking that he had won the fight.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Yeah, I mean, it was a close fight either way. Like Luke Thomas tweeted: 48-47 Jones is acceptable. 48-47 Reyes is acceptable.....what is not acceptable is 49-46 Jones.jax wrote:I thought the deciding round was 3, Reyes had bigger significant strike numbers in round 2 compared to 3 I believe....close fight either way, like I said I was disappointed with Reyes throwing away round 5 just thinking that he had won the fight.
As for the 5th round, Reyes, like you say Jax, basically gave the fight and his championship belt to Jones....now I think Reyes coming out so heavy in the first 2 rounds may have led to the eventual demise in the fifth

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
True, he was clearly gassed but his corner begged him for just 5 more mins to be a champ and he clearly didnt even attempt it, One thing Jones is good at is winning fights because his last 2 were close fights and it shows the comp is catching up with him.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
The question is, is it the guys catching up or is it because he's no longer juicing?....Probably a bit of both. The one thing this fight did show me is that I am more confident now then ever before Jones gets destroyed at HW

Yea I dont see him jumping to HW any time soon...and I also think its a combination of maybe not juicing and guys catching up.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Rewatched the fight with no commentary, yeah I don't see the argument for Jones. He clearly lost the first 3 rounds. He won the championship rounds, but no way he won those first 3.
The 'roids have caught up to him. Plus fighting for 12 years, it's gonna catch up to you. He gets handled at HW and he knows it.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
I'm not sure we can say rounds 2 and 3 were clearly won by either guy. There is a great divide with a consensus no where to be found. Like I say, I certainly see the case for Reyes but it's far from definitive IMO.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Reyes had an edge in significant strikes in rounds 2 and 3 with no TD's or ground game involved so I have a hard time giving it to Jones...

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Everything I’ve heard has been that it was a close fight and basically it could’ve gone either way, I only watched the last 2 rounds on a phone and then the highlights so I can’t give an honest opinion on who won, but a lot of people are giving it to Reyes. What everyone seems to agree on is that 49-46 is utter bullshit. I don’t think it was a robbery considering how everyone says it was close. Bisping vs Hammil was a robbery, but this was far from that from what I hear. Listened to Josh Thompson and John McCarthys podcast and they have a really good discussion on it. Thompson also seems to think that he was juicing also.

Re: UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes Thread
Again, I'm not arguing whether Reyes won or lost. I personally scored it for Jones but absolutely see how people scored it in Reyes favour.
This is part of the issue with scoring....and why counting significant strikes shouldn't be relied upon. If fighter A has a great 45 second flurry and lands 20 shots but fighter B controls the rest of the round in every fashion but comes up short say 24 to 20 in significant shots landed, do we give it to the guy with more shots landed or the guy who controls the fight for 90% of the round......now I'm not saying that was the case in the Jones fight per se

Yeah it’s a thing that definitely needs to be fixed. Big John was talking about that as well, how screwed up the scoring system is. Like how Jones scored points with his take downs even though he did nothing with them! Just by taking him down they gave him points! No damage was done and nothing significant was done on the ground. Talked about the need for better educated judges and refs.

Exactly. I would go as far to say Reyes or any fighter for that matter, should get points for defending TD's.Cisco wrote:Yeah it’s a thing that definitely needs to be fixed. So apparently the one judge who scored round 1 for Giles over Krause, even though Krause had Giles' back for over 4 minutes constantly threatening submissions, apparently he was just given his black belt by Giles' coach......conflict of interest much????
