Am I the only dummy who thinks Poirier has a very legit chance of beating Conor? at +225, I'm putting some coin down on him

Of course someone as good as Poirier has a chance of beating anyone and this time around i'm sure he'll have a gameplan in tact which means not getting into a firefight with Conor and get out of the first round. I'm still favoring Conor and think he will be at his best tonight.

I just think Dustin has improved so much and Conor has fought 60 seconds in 2 years.....Conor will have the speed advantage, Poirier the grappling. Chins are probably equal, power likely equal and I give Dustin the "heart" advantage as well as cardio.

Well, obviously I am super pumped about the result of the main event last night. Conor looked pretty good in round 1, landed some nice shots, avoided any damage in the brief TD that Dustin scored but the calf kicks started to add up a bit. It did seem like Conor, maybe not gassed but seemed a little winded starting the 2nd round where Poirier took over with more calf kicks.
I think it goes to show a couple things: The sport has caught up a little to Conor, Conor can't take 2 years off and expect to beat skilled, diverse fighters.....maybe against "pure strikers" without a threat of grappling but against top tier, all round fighters the layoff will always hurt.

I agree with your take on the fight, the key for Poirier was to get out of round one which he did, he was also able to take some good shots while using those calf kicks which added up quickly then he landed a good shot which stunned Conor and Conor didnt have time to recover as DP poured it on. Looks like a trilogy in the making.

Things I'd like to see after 257 IF Khabib is truly retired:
Dustin and Chandler for the LW championship. I know Oliveira "deserves" the shot after the roll he's been on and I'm a hypocrite because i Hate guys leapfrogging other fighters but I am much more interested in a Poirier/Chandler matchup, plus I think we need to credit Chandler a little for his Bellator run.
Gaethje/Oliveira for #1 contender

Got a few good options there for sure...Conor is the wild card that could still f things up.

Sounds like Conor wants to get back in there sooner rather than later....problem is you don't throw him against Gaethje because Conor gets killed and the others aren't big enough names....maybe Chandler would fit the bill....I personally think it'll be Diaz/Conor III next for him

It seems he wants the Poirier rematch, and if he doesnt get it might stamp his feet. I like the Gaethje fight but not sure if the Diaz fight is in the cards right now...Also depends on what Poirier wants as well....he might want another big fight with Conor....its always good for business one way or another.

Conor doesn't deserve an immediate rematch with Dustin, Dustin is fighting for a title in his next fight....but Conor typically gets what he wants. Poirier said he';s open to a rematch but wants a title fight next.
I love the Conor/Gaethje fight as it likely derails the Conor hype train even more....Gaethje destroys him IMO
